SENSORS BASED ON PTC

PTC temperature sensors are ceramic semiconductor components based on barium titanate. Their compact design makes them ideal for integration into electric windings of engines and transformers. Once the nominal response temperature is exceeded, they exhibit a sudden resistance change – which can be easily detected by electronic circuits.

  • Globally applicable, UL-approved across the full temperature range (UL1434)
  • High sensitivity in ultra-compact design: miniature PTC with 2 mm diameter, optional 1.8 mm
  • Reliable performance with cold resistance R25 < 100 Ω
  • Standard-compliant characteristics according to DIN EN 60947-8 / DIN VDE V 0898-1-401
  • Excellent mechanical and chemical resistance with thermally conductive protective coating
  • Long-term thermal stability through optimized PTC ceramic composition
  • Safe electrical separation ensured by suitable insulation design
  • Cost-efficient custom versions for automated processing
  • Technical data: Datasheet Sensor Series M

WIRE-FREE SENSORS: MR ROCKETS

The MR series (“rockets”) introduces you to the world of wire-free sensor technology: No more unstable, bendable parts – instead, 100% shape stability and 100% reliable connections using insulation displacement connections, press-fits, and more.

  • Available with Pt1000, Pt100, NTC, or PTC
  • Globally applicable, UL approval across the full temperature range (UL 1434)
  • High sensitivity
  • Reliable performance
  • Excellent mechanical and chemical resistance with thermally conductive protective coating
  • Safe insulation design ensures secure separation

Bimetal switches

Our high-performance bimetal switches are specifically designed for use in electric windings. All series of switches respond both to the temperature of the protected component and to the self-heating of the current-carrying thermo-bimetal disk. Once the nominal switching temperature is reached, the contacts snap open instantly.

Bimetal Switches Series C

Miniaturized bimetal switches

  • High pressure stability ensured by a domed steel housing, mechanically decoupled from the switching mechanism
  • Thermally stable connection technology with welded leads
  • Consistent dimensions through front-facing lead connections
  • Easy PCB integration thanks to built-in THT and SMD connection technology, also available with Press-Fit on request
  • Position-independent installation due to symmetrical design
  • Reliable electromagnetic shielding provided by the ferromagnetic housing
  • Stable contact resistance through optimized contact materials, high contact force, and sliding contact
  • Consistently high quality standards ensured by fully automated production with integrated process monitoring
  • Technical data: Datasheet Bimetal Switches Series C

Bimetal Switches Series R

Self-holding bimetal switches

  • Reliable latching function ensured by an integrated PTC heating resistor. The latching is maintained by a heating element connected in parallel to the normally closed contact, preventing the contacts from closing automatically. Resetting of the temperature controller is possible by interrupting the power supply. A wide range of modification options extends the application spectrum.

Positioning Technology

Well positioned with customized positioning or Click & Play

What is the use of the best temperature sensor if it cannot be positioned efficiently inside the engine? In cooperation with our sister company BGF Enztech GmbH, we develop high-temperature resistant and thermally conductive plastic components that enable precise positioning of your temperature monitors in the engine. This ensures maximum sensor performance with minimal intervention and cost.

PI Sensor

The PI sensor allows sensors to be positioned precisely on the stator package with minimal effort. A movable, spring-loaded sleeve compensates for manufacturing tolerances and ensures consistent contact of the sensor with the winding conductors. Installation in this case is carried out with a simple turn on the fully assembled motor directly in the terminal box, which means there is no need for time-consuming embedding of the temperature monitor in the stator.

Latching aid

High-performance plastic sleeves enable precise positioning of PTC sensors. A simple “click” and everything locks securely into the desired position.

„CLICK & PLAY“

In cooperation with our sister company BGF Enztech GmbH (Pforzheim), we develop “Click & Play” solutions: wire-free sensors that use innovative connection technology with switching rings capable of integrating additional functions. These switching rings can be simply clicked into place in a fully automatable step. This enables significant savings in assembly costs and quality costs, particularly at higher production volumes.

SAVINGS EXAMPLE WITH “CLICK & PLAY”

  • Production volume: 100,000 motors per year
  • Assembly time before: 210 seconds per motor
  • Assembly time after: 88 seconds per motor – assembly time reduced by 58%
  • At an hourly rate of 98 EUR/hour: savings of more than 330k EUR per year, i.e. over 3.00 EUR per motor

“Click & Play” systems can be configured with:

  • PTC
  • Pt1000/Pt100
  • NTC
  • Bimetal switches
